After a brief time of heat indexes flirting with 90 this afternoon, we’ll see things cool down significantly as storms pass through. Unfortunately these storms could be severe like yesterday, so you’ll again have to keep an eye out and have the ability to get severe weather alerts.

Today will be the peak of the heat, but only by a matter of degrees. We won’t see any real relief until later this week.
Here in Orwell, our heat index will be pushing 100 today. Whether it hits that milestone is immaterial—with temperatures topping out around 90 much of the awfulness will be thanks to the humidity.

As you can see from the attached photos, NWS Burlington has again put us under a Heat Advisory for today. With Heat Indexes soaring to the mid-90s it will be very uncomfortable out there today. Dew Points will be in the 70s, leading to incredibly sticky and muggy conditions. 1/2 #VTwx #Vermont

I wasn't at a corner, no hairy stuff, no crashes, just a lot of pedestrians wanting to cross the course, a couple cars we had to manage. Three hours of careful watching of the gaps. A few people using canes and rollators crossing the road. No pics because I was constantly on alert, a.k.a. the way I live my life. The races that ended up spread across the course are the hardest to manage. #Vermont #Cycling #BikeRacing

It’s September 4th and we’re under a Heat Advisory here in #Vermont.
Heat indexes will be hovering around 90 for most of the day, with WBGTs (a measure of heat’s impact on the body) in the Moderate to High range.
Tuesday through Thursday will see areas of Vermont reaching the Extreme threshold for WBGTs, a level at which experts recommend delaying all outdoor activity.
This will be a long lasting event—stay cool! #VTwx
