A beautiful eighteenth century, Grade II listed barn in a rather worrying state. Part of an extensive farmyard complex around the back of the Youngsbury estate north of Ware. I hope all those building materials in the yard will be put to good use.

One of the themes of the pre-1890 period in is that civic leaders built elaborate Italianate, Queen Anne, and Gothic Revival mansions that are all (except one) gone.

Unlike eastern cities, Modesto went into a rapid growth phase in the post-WWII era, plus there was huge wave of demolition in the 1950s-60s due to building code changes for seismic protection.

Interesting video about earth as a building material. I wish she had gone into more detail about some bits -- like insulation and durability. But there's a lot to think about here, including the importance of vernacular architecture as a source for sustainable build techniques. youtu.be/ww-H4Ld-wcg

Satisfying day. Taken a long time to figure out exactly where some of my dad's furthest back recorded ancestors lived in Somerset. Turns out it was a beaut spot and a gorgeous house that some of them built back around 1700.

Kennen Sie den „Ökozentrum Pierre et Terre“ aus Süd🇫🇷 in Riscle?

In order to move from to truly , you first have to start with a foundation. Croft is often building on “difficult” sites in , and we’ve become a bit of a specialist company in how to make foundations that respond to particular site conditions, just like the that has stood the test of time… everything Croft does is focused on and moving the climate needle in the sector.

I won’t post much until I have a more intuitive sense of the evolving culture, but my other interests (again, no expertise is implied) are in , especially the rights of and .

My politics are more influenced by and than by anyone people read for politics courses.

I want to learn more about , , , , , and building techniques.
