A propos of nothing, here’s our jolly vet posing for a selfie during a follow-up check of Noly’s post-op, newly toothless gums. He had a painful degenerative condition and all his incisors had to go. Happily, he’s healing up nicely. Sadly, being separated from his teeth has not diminished his appetite for human flesh; he still goes in for the stealth-nip whenever he detects an opportunity.

My #dieffenbachia/ #dumbcane has become a little bit too tall so I beheaded it. The original cutting was given to me almost 5 years ago by a kind scientist of the #Utrecht #veterinary faculty of the university.
Most tutorials instruct you to cut the stem into sections and put them in soil but this should work as well. #houseplants

The feral was acting like his normal self: healthy-appearing, did not approach me with undue lack of fear, did not scram in fright from me, just moved away and tried to hide in some vegetation.

So how about a summary of my work at Prudhoe Bay this past week? :D
It was a joint project between USFWS, USGS, and Wildlife Conservation Society. We implanted 17 GPS/GSM transmitters in common eiders, Pacific loons, and red-throated loons. In addition, when weather interfered with boating to nearby islands, I assisted with efforts to apply neck collar trackers on Cackling geese. We completed the work in less than 6 days. The high resolution data will supplement other information from remote nest cameras and guide further studies on population interconnectivity, feeding habits, population stability, and migration paths.
