Wait what?

You guys don't already have J for scrolling down while using Leader J to actually input the letter?

The whole keyboard should be modal you know, it saves you some keystrokes.

The vi content seems to have gone down well, so here is an epic StackOverflow answer with some really useful vi stuff in it (which also applies to vim, neovim etc of course).
Again this is really too much all at once, so I suggest only trying to fit a small part of it in your brain at a time!

That seems so incongruous, that someone would be nerdy enough to use but not know how to pronounce it.
The relevant jargon file entry: jargonfile.johnswitzerland.com says explicitly about pronunciation, "never /siks/".
I wrote my entire PhD thesis with 's . And I'd rather use than , I think its undo logic is fundamentally broken.😈

I’ll never stop being amazed that Guy L Steele, James Gosling & Bill Joy worked together and the result was Java.

Of course, half the amazement is wondering what they wrote their initial work in.

It's been 10 years since I became fully dependent on . I have learned a great deal from it, including the true power of lisps, s-exps, dynamic runtimes and the like.

There are problems with truly living in a stateful runtime - you can kind of see it in the way our planet squirrels away heat we created for nasty surprises later. Restarting emacs (or sbcl, or clojure, or whatever) is a thing I do habitually when I detect funky state - a luxury our civilization does not have - but it is a methodological smell.

Anyway, I finally decided that the cognitive load you carry due to current state dysphoria was actually completely irrelevant since Richard Stallman is a toxic man who has surrounded himself with many other toxic men.

Stallman and the FSF are destroying the viability and credibility of a position that was only theirs to inhabit in the absence of others. That time passed long ago, and they should be dispersed and re-assigned now. There are many others now in this space who are not rabid assholes, get the fuck out of the way.

As we have seen everywhere and everywhen, whatever the initial motivation, we are now dealing with old white men who cannot countenance being displaced. They need to be swept away - this is not a matter for reform.

Anyway, I decided today to re-learn /#vim/#neovim. I haven't *forgotten* them, I just haven't used them for writing any serious code for a long time. I'm going to fix that, and become as productive (haha) in that modal model as I am (not) in emacs.

I've toyed with this in the past, but now I'm committing.
