Recently scanned from a photograph album dating from the early 1920s. These Lancashire boilers are leaving the Vickers works, Barrow-in-Furness. As they are on LMS wagons, it must be 1923 or later. The photo is numbered, confirming that it was an official photo taken by the works photographers.

Having turned to electric from steam, Metropolitan (London Underground) needed more power.
In early 1920s these were made by Metropolitan Vickers at Trafford Park Manchester (no connection with railway company), and sent to another part of the group, Vickers in Barrow-in-Furness, to assemble into locomotives.
Image now held in the Dock Museum, Barrow in Furness.
