AMNH does a good job orienting and presenting the native peoples of Cascadia. There is a shout-out (briefly) to #8thGeneration #Seattle which was nice to see.

Any particular recommendations for a random internet dude you know almost nothing about?
I like coffee shops, bookstores, local's favorite's greasy spoons, and micro brew. A nice park or forest to hike or run through is great too. If it is a thing in Canada, farmer's markets are cool.

Disused short #railway #bridge between the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail and the Uncle Tobys factory in Wahgunyah, #victoria , #Australia . The disused railway station at Wahgunyah is 100 metres or so from this bridge. Wahgunyah was the terminus of a branch line that left the north east mainline at Springhurst. Today the section between Rutherglen and Wahgunyah is a rail trail.

These cheery little Nodding Greenhood orchids usually bloom in August, so are probably almost finished now. They are not usually solitary, so finding a healthy colony of them is a bit of a treat.

An arborist has confirmed that a birthing tree in western Victoria sacred to the Djab Wurrung people has been poisoned.
Key points:
The Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation says the "despicable" act is a "clear attack" on the community
The corporation is offering $10,000 for information that leads to prosecution over the matter
The Western Highway duplication project is on hold while a cultural management plan is prepared
The arborist determined the poison was applied via three holes cut into the tree, which had its trunk was spray-painted with the words "build the road", between Thursday, August 10 and Friday, August 11.
