I have questions. “The Victory of Faith” (1891) by Irish artist Saint George Hare, on display at the National Gallery of Victoria . According to contemporary reviews, it depicts an "impressive depiction of Christian faith and steadfastness,” saying the two women are in a "sisterly embrace” before going to their deaths as Christian martyrs. I wonder if there might be other interpretations of this scene.
