Today in 1936, the Canadian National Vimy Memorial is unveiled by King Edward VIII.
The memorial was built by Walter Seymour Allward over the course of 11 years.
Over 50,000 were present for the dedication.
The structure is the centrepiece of a 100-hectare site.

The land is still French soil, despite popular belief.

I had the privilege of visiting the Vimy Memorial back in 2018. It was a moving time and I cried when I was able to find my grandfather’s cousin’s name on the memorial.
