The Apocalypse Tetralogy marks my first Vinegar Syndrome purchase. Polish dystopic sci-fi sounds like a good time to me, and the trailer and descriptions sound promising.

The other three from Criterion Collection are movies I've already seen and greatly enjoy. Two black comedies (Brazil, Dr. Strangelove) and a fantastic thriller. (Blow Out)

I watched 2 gialli last night, the new UHD of A blade in the dark. VS is very proud of the 2 minutes added to the running time but at almost 2 hours what this movie needs is some serious trimming. The slow pacing and the absurd narrative isnt great. Five women for the killer is a more brisk movie, a nasty plot with a killer targetting pregnant women. Gore scenes were added on its home release and they are part of the extras, sourced from #vhs. #giallo #BluRay #PhysicalMedia #VinegarSyndrome

This part of #vinegarsyndrome Lost Giallo series.

With the opening murder and the choice of music during it makes this off kilter and weird, which I like.

Though the plot is common even for 1974, the mystery was engaging, the murders were shocking, the killer had motive, and there was a reveal in the end.

I don't have a 3D TV or a VR headset that can do digital 3-D yet but at least the Vinegar Syndrome release of Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) has the Anaglyph Red/Cyan Glasses 3-D version as well.

We'll see how far I get while trying to watch through the 3D glasses AND my regular glasses before I want to hurl. 😁

I knew I was going to get that 4k #UHD of #FromBeyond from #VinegarSyndrome so this morning I did. And I piled on with some of the "10 for $10" on offer. 2023 is going to be a wild year for #physicalmedia - I can feel my wallet tremble already!

and for tonight's movie. Unmasking The Idol from 1986. Ala Vinegar Syndrome.

Already 5 minutes in and this feels like its going to be cheese to level 11.

I occasionally forget how well blurays and UHD discs handle dark scenes. Most compression algorithms always seem to muddle the screen with random noise.
