I bought a set of machinists tools at a garage sale this morning. They are a bit rusty and dirty so I’m cleaning them up with some WD40. This is the “before” photo. I’m going slowly and being gentle so the after might take a while to mainfest.

A bit of Scotland turned up here in Colorado - a wood-bodied "coffin smoother" made by A. Mathieson & Sons in Glasgow sometime between 1890-1900 (best guess), not far from where my mom grew up. In fantastic condition, can't wait to put it back to work after a quick sharpening of the iron.

Vintage Black & Decker Workmate.

12 months ago I reassembled my vintage Workmate. I've got a thing about #BritishRacingGreen so that was the obvious colour for me.
I sand blasted and laquered the aluminium H-frames and bought new rubber boots for the legs.
The top was in good condition so it was given a light sanding and an application of boiled linseed oil.

A poor neglected handplane found in the bottom of a bucket at a garage sale for ~$5, before and after a light restoration.

A Stanley #5¼ Junior Jack Plane - not my everyday jack plane but a solid user. Amazing how much abuse and neglect these vintage Stanley planes can take.
