Quick pick of my latest resurrection. Just sorted it out today and wearing it to see how it holds time in the real world. It's an Atlantic Milano that I got in really sad shape. One of the lugs was broken off. I replaced that and then refinished it in gold plate. The movement was also full of old lubricant and all manner of foreign bodies. The dial was pretty green with mold but it cleaned up ok.
Really quite pleased with it, if I do say so myself. 😁

Here's a pair of vintage "His & Hers" #Certina New Art #watches I have recently finished resurrecting. The larger "mens" one is a manual wind but the smaller "ladies" one is automatic. Both are "top loaders" that is the movement is removed through the top after removing the crystal & the out part of the 2 piece winding stem.

103 years old and alive again after who knows how many years.
Swiss is good but these old USA Elgins are every bit as good, maybe better and way prettier I reckon.
1919 Elgin Grade 344 12S 17j in a J.Boss Keystone gold filled 25 year Guarantee case.
Back in those days you bought the movement, dial & hands then had them fitted in a 3rd party case of your choosing.

Here's another one from the tin of old broken watches found in my dad's stuff. A Seiko with the 6119 automatic Day/Date movement. It was in pretty sad shape when we found it but now it's one of my favorite daily drivers. Got a beautiful sunburst dial and keeps excellent time.

Combining 2 of my "vices"
I have a 1975 Silver Smoke BMW R90s that I restored and had a little of the paint left over. I also have a 1960s Omega watch that had a dial that had exceeded acceptable "patina".
So here for your critical eye is the result of my tinkerings.

A few pics of a 1942(ish) 18k gold Cortebert sub second that was my grandfather's then my father's but disappeared when he died. It was given up as lost. A number of years later my brother found an old Quality St tin with a bunch of broken half pulled apart junk watches that my dad had been fiddling with in his later years. Knowing I was into tinkering with old watches he asked me if I wanted to look before he tossed them. BINGO! In bits but....
