Starting to regret using #VirginMedia for my internet in my new place. Terrible at communication, dodgy website, and no confidence they'll show up today to install.

Consider where your data is. If your #email is in an internet #imap store (most mailboxes are), log into it with a desktop client like Outlook or #thunderbird and download/export a copy. If all your files and photos are in #OneDrive, #dropbox #icloud #googledrive etc, sync the lot to your PC and back up your PC onto an encrypted USB hard drive. Do it regularly.

OK, I know we have a lot of inflation at the moment, but Virgin Media are just taking the piss: they're going to put the price of my broadband contract up by 48% this year.

Sadly, they have a local monopoly on fast broadband where I am, so I shall probably have no choice but to suck it up.

@newsthump I can laugh now, but Vermin promised me a low start contract for all services (I only asked for Internet connection) combined with "cancel any time with 1 month notice". Obviously not workable, now I think about it.

I didn't record the call, so all I could do was cancel the DD and wait 6 years for the bad mark on my credit record to fade.

Oh, I've just noticed our #VirginMedia EPG has moved a load of channels around. Now I've got to memorise a whole load of new numbers. I'm old. I can't remember numbers like I used to. This is age discrimination.

I need to fix this mess that I have been far too lazy over for too long, and I'm going to migrate to a fibre service for half the price just as soon as I can tidy up enough to get the engineer in, which means I'm going to have to spin up a complete mail service of my own. Then #VirginMedia can - as the Ameircans say, most colourfully - go do one.

Outbound mail to go out via #VirginMedia still queuing since the 30th. Port 25 no longer accepting connections, so can't do starttls...

Config change, no warning, so email hosed. (Yes, yes, I've been lazy and not bothered to bring my mail server out of the dark ages, but these things should be warned in advance.)

have changed their SMTP gateway config without warning, and now outbound mail has been idling in a queue here for the last 2 days, instead of being despatched on its way. Thanks for yet another avoidable screw-up, guys.
