Currently it is difficult to find any company that provides #VirtualBusinessServers that politicians could use for the long term.
I found a few sites with German language but I am unsure if they can/would provide service to North American clients.

Most USA politicians don't seem to want to give up on BirdSite.
Hopefully this situation improves in the near future.

For the immediate future people may have to accept politicians in the #Fediverse.

I wonder if some sys admin in the #Fediverse could help find these politicians a [virtual] server for themselves?
The trolls will be out in full force spamming/harassing those people.

I very much hope that religious institutions can be kept out of the public #Fediverse.
It's only a matter of time before they pop up to try and "save some souls".
Some of the big churches in the USA have enough money for a zillion servers.

IMO the right to practice any type of religious worship should not interfere with anyone else's right to practice a different religion or the right to abstain.

Separation of church and state or else it becomes a theocracy.

While I think the #Fediverse could be a place to discuss politics I suspect that most politicians, especially those from the USA, should find a home on separate servers since politically the country seems so divisive.

I can see the USA Red/Blue parties having their own Mastodon servers in the future.

The far right wing might just use gab or NotReallyTruth social.

Independents like Bernie might wish to have their own [virtual] instance.

Some folks will have issues with any business on the #Fediverse but many businesses will probably setup their own servers in the near future.
It would be a convenient way to interact with potential customers and the company controls the data unlike using BirdSite and FacePlant.
There is already a significant amount of promotion happening on various servers but it might not be recognized as marketing.
Actors, musicians, authors and artists are all promoting something.

There must be some clearly defined rules for #VirtualBusinessServers such as no spamming and following the same server rules as everyone using a public server.
Break the rules and a business is looking for another provider.

I think that small businesses on separate servers could help with the expansion of the Fediverse until some point where donations are sufficient to cover the cost of public instances.

I'll write more about this issue later.

The basic monthly fee for #VirtualBusinessServers with a single user and a shared domain (eg sbo.us/@user_name) could be set low enough to attract interest.
Each user in sbo.us would be in the same database.
If the database could somehow be partitioned (even with just an extra column in a database) then the next tier up would give customers the perception of being in a separate database.
It would be nice if a user could point their own domain (eg social.coins.d) to a virtual account.

Current Mastodon service providers could make some money by providing #VirtualBusinessServers on separate physical machines and domains.

Such a machine could easily host thousands of small businesses and charge each one a monthly fee that could be used to help pay for the public server.

Any admin with a well run server of 40K or more active users should be able to also manage a separate paid server.
10,000 small business each with a single user at $5/month is $600,000.00/year.

Why would any business take a chance on a server filled with a bunch of punters like myself.
If the server ever got blocked due to moderation issues then the business would also be blocked due to circumstances outside their control.

We are already seeing a few servers being blocked for inadequate moderation.

Finding qualified staff to manage a server is a challenge for a small business that only needs one account but shared #VirtualBusinessServers could help.

Most of the large businesses like car companies, banks and financial services will probably want to host their own servers.

I like this idea since I can block a domain and will probably block most business domains.

Small businesses will probably not have the staff to manage their own servers.
Currently it can be difficult to find a host for a dedicated virtual server due to unprecedented demand which might improve with time.

Here's where #VirtualBusinessServers could be useful.

The unprecedented grown of the #Tootaverse since the end of Oct 2002 has left many service providers scrambling to meet demand.

One of the things missing is the number of providers hosting dedicated services for businesses.
IMO there is an opportunity for businesses to use Mastodon to interact with customers as long as the companies are not spamming and are not on any public server.

I'm going to use #VirtualBusinessServers to identify some of the more interesting issues.

@matt Oddly I was just about to start a bit of a rant using #VirtualBusinessServers to identify some of these issues.
It's hard to imagine any business wanting to be on the "same" server as punters like myself.
If the server gets fediblocked due to moderation issues then so does the business.
