JUSTINE: You don’t have much of an accent.
R: I wish everybody felt that way.
J: What we offer people here is a certain vision. A certain darkness as well. I don’t suppose you’ve read Faulkner?
R: Nope.
J: I’m hoping to find someone who can help to convey that very darkness, Mr Rydell. The mind of the South. A fever dream of sensuality.
R: Lady, I think you’re crazier than a sack full of assholes.

A faded old picture in a gilt frame. Rydell went over for a closer look. A horse pulling a kind of wagon-thing, just a little seat there, with a bearded man in a hat like Abe Lincoln. “Currier & Ives,” it said. Rydell wondered which one was the horse.
