El 2 de enero de 1979 se lanza VisiCalc, la primera hoja de cálculo de la historia.

Fue la primera aplicación de hoja de cálculo disponible para computadoras personales.

VisiCalc fue renombrada VisiCorp para las computadoras Apple II y ayudó a que las Apple pasaran de ser un juguete de aficionados a una deseada herramienta financiera. This #retrocomputing StackExchange question is interesting, as numbering rows in a spreadsheet program is something that involves simple integer arithmetic. This is not something that one would expect modern #amd64 CPUs to have acquired new problems doing, even in real mode.

But nowadays we can just run Apple II and #Commodore64 software like any other OS, in a virtual machine on whatever irrelevant hardware we own.

So there's no excuse now for any of us to use Microsoft Excel, when we can use perfectly good Quattro Pro, #VisiCalc, or #Lotus123!
