Today among the #FlywayHighway Black #Kites continue to power through The #Straits with 1,825 making the crossing alongside this mesmerising group over 1,000 White Stork + 3 Black Stork, Egyptian #Vultures, Short-toed and Booted #Eagles European Bee-eaters, #Osprey and going the other way an Eleanora´s #Falcon!
With an increasingly gusty #Levante many decided to delay their crossing ....so tomorrow more!

Also a juvenile #Lanner #Falcon ripped through our watchpoint. As the wind shifted more Black Kites pushed through the Eastern section of The Straits…..

With a strengthening #poniente wind today Black Kites amassed around the valleys of The #Straits attempting to cross but many waiting for better conditions. As Booted and Short-toed Eagles joined their growing numbers, a group of 178 White Storks showed them how it's done!

386 Black Kites piled through The #Straits this morning crossing the #14km divide into Africa - with 295 White Storks, Booted and Short-toed Eagles and the first male European Honey-buzzard as 2 adult Bonelli’s Eagles watched the #migratory proceedings ! 😳

As we kick into July #Autumn starts to become a lot more obvious!
Already the Collared #Pratincoles are moving away from the colony and forming pre-migratory flocks in the campo. Already the first small groups of White Storks are crossing The #Straits and European Bee-eaters are forming dense migratory groups, often roosting next to our house in their hundreds!

High drama here as European Honey #Buzzards continue to cross the #14km of The #Straits despite the strong #Levante.

We’ve been among the flow of #migration again yesterday with a near constant flow of Booted Eagles (700+) with our guests.
Joining the #RaptorFest #MigrationParty - Western Osprey (5), Short-toed Eagles (70), Black Kites (500+) Egyptian Vulture (2), Montagu’s Harriers (4) Eurasian Sparrowhawks and 15 Eurasian Griffon Vultures returning to Europe with a massive Cinereous Vulture in over our heads!

This visibly exhausted Short-toed #Eagle crossing in over guests from Naturetrek Wildlife Holidays - they must come here, the narrowest point btwn #Africa & #Europe, at just #14km it still clearly presents a huge challenge !

I visit Hampstead Heath, Wormwood Scrubs, Brent Reservoir, Regent’s Park, Walthamstow Wetlands, Woodberry Wetlands, LWC, Rainham Marshes and more.
Further afield I’ve also done bits of north Norfolk, Thetford Forest, Grafham Water and Wallasea Island (pic). #cycling
