Today's success moment: came up with a hack to have arrow markers in #GeoViews 👩‍💻 while building a #visualanalytics app with #panel.

I'm still surprised that the built-in #bokeh markers don't include any arrows. None of the available markers can be used to unambiguously show direction https://docs.bokeh.org/en/latest/docs/examples/basic/scatters/markers.html#index-0

We're happy to share our survey on Visual Analytics for eXplainable Deep Learning https://tinyurl.com/m59jr9c5 The STAR provides a taxonomical analysis by explanation methods, the used visualization techniques, the degree of analytics support, the evaluation activities, and how this field is evolving, among others. It is intended to be read by #VisualAnalytics, #XAI, and #DeepLearning researchers providing a common reasoning ground to foster new joint research contributions.

Overall, I think there is a lot of future potential in creating data-flow systems for #visualAnalytics and #visualization using modern web technologies. I feel that the real power is to create an environment where even non-expert users can visually author these visual queries. Future work in this space should study aspects of collaboration, sharing, and the integration of human-centered AI models in these pipelines. I hope to see much more work on this going forward! /end

I've always been a fan of data-flow systems for #visualization, #visualanalytics, and #EDA, where the user iteratively constructs a visual query by connecting visual elements for data, transformations, and visual representations on a large canvas. The possibilities for maintaining provenance in the analysis, recording the history, and using the final visual queries for data-driven storytelling are endless.
