Super interesting perspective. I've only encountered the full visual desc at the beginning of a zui in big corporate gigs. And I've always wondered.

Question, especially for the vision-impaired. I retoot a lot of toots with visual material but lacking the descriptions of the visual material. I have begun adding, in my responses, descriptions of such visual materials for the visually impaired. Is this sufficiently corrective or helpful? What other, better ways are there to "fix" such a toot (if possible)

Daily dog picture. She’s a 23kg border collie, mostly black and white but with bits of brown and cute tan eyebrows and a pink spot above her nose. She’s all cushed up on a dark pink sofa. Laziest bc in existence!! #visualdescription #dog #bordercollie #fatlazywitch

Folx who use screen readers: if you are reading a text which includes detailed written instructions about how to use a piece of software and the text includes screenshots, what should the visual description of the screenshots say to be useful without being repetitive with the text? Does your answer change if the software itself has accessibility problems?
