@ewdocparris It was hard work, hot and prone to error and more than anything terribly depressing.

His life’s work, the search for a clean unending source of energy, intended as a brilliant gift for humanity that would propel them into a new era of prosperity and out across the universe- shattered into nightmare.

The only thing keeping the nascent universe upon his desk from expanding beyond its current quantum cage was his speed and determination in plugging dimensional holes that appeared.

He could keep it up for so long- but his universe forever.

Sending the Scouts out to catalog a newly-discovered world is a balancing act: the Scout should blend in with the natives to observe them in their natural habitat, but also have protection in case the natives discover xe is not one of them. D'ktchk appreciated the sensory equipment xe had been given for this mission, but xe really wished that the ears had been made to look more natural, like the rest of xem.
