I bettered the ride I did back in May between Rutherglen and Wangaratta by at least 5 minutes (probably closer to 10 minutes as today's ride was longer distance and was 5 minutes shorter), and about 1kph higher avg speed.

I think we're at the point where a map like this is needed for #VLine and #MetroTrains, with a time selector, given so much #bustitition happening at any given time.
Currently you get a wall of text, or best case scenario, a wall of calendar items, making it very difficult to see if your journey is affected or not.

Yesterday my nephew and his girlfriend tried to catch the afternoon train from Wangaratta to Melbourne. It was full. They had to wait several hours for the evening train. The fare cut will make it more affordable, but will also make this problem worse. #VLine #PublicTransport #MoreServicesPlease

Possibly what we'll see is a rise during 2023, alongside the V/Line fare capping pledged by Labor during the election.

@timrichards Such a shame. Given the growth of #vline I wonder if down the track they will look to competitive interstate service replacing #theoverland and competing with #nswtrainlink. Sadly as you say it's hard to see NSW improving intercity rail travel any time soon.
