While I had heard that my state's program could help, I didn't think they would. They've refused to help me in the past unless I was a full-time student or working full-time, which my health doesn't allow me to do. They also only ever seemed to see my , not my other , and caseworkers have even put me down, telling me I would never be independent.

I'm not visually impaired, but I work with people who have low vision and other challenges related to reading (i.e. dyslexia) as an assistive technology specialist. Here's an article that has me scratching my head a bit:
