Overall, though, #iOS #VoiceOver is still, to me, much quicker to respond to gestures and is still, a decade later, better at consistently recognizing swipes and taps than #Android. I also lament the lack of higher quality and more responsive voices on Google’s platform, though to be fair, the default TTS is leaps and bounds more listenable than SVOX Pico was in 2010.

Given that I don't think we're going to get a beta 9 of #iOS, if you would rather be safe than sorry, stay on iOS 16 for awhile. We'll likely see iOS 16.7 alongside iOS 17, so you'll be able to get those updates for awhile. Apart from pronunciation issues, the most frustrating issue that remains is that dragging apps with VoiceOver's actions is extremely unreliable. If you didn't have issues with it in 16, it is highly likely that you will in iOS 17. If you did have issues with it in 16, you may have even more issues with it now. I have played with Carbon Copy Cloner backup software on #MacOS. It’s much better than Chrono Sync I have used previously for a more base user. While CCC has much less features, its #accessibility with #VoiceOver is much more superior to what CS offers, plus CCC is made by a company named Bombich, which just gives it a plus in my eyes 😈. My research on backup utilities for MacOS that are simpler than CS came about when my friend got a Mac and I started teaching her. I just found Chrono Syn c to be much more frustrating for a novice user and so I discovered CCC. Its pretty expensive but I like it, really recommend. Have you discovered any interesting Mac software recently?

Ro, so my watch is charging, and I have paired it to my hearing aids. But I have more questions. What are watch faces? I also have apps on there I don't want. I also notice siri is shit. It would not open setings for me and said it could not do that on the watch. I'm very interested in the mindfulness and meditation, tracking my steps and sleep. So need to know how to set that up. There's also a fitness+ is it worth getting that? any advice welcome. #apple #voiceover

So for #VisuallyImpaired #VoiceOVer users on the current public apple betas, can anyone tell me how to open a note you’ve linked to from another note? I know that inserting a note is done with two > signs, >>, but how about opening that link once it’s created? This may also be comparable to pages documents or other things like it, if you’ve gotten one of those to work previously. Not seeming to be able to open one, but want to make sure it’s not something I’m doing wrong before filing a bug report. Boosts okay.

Working with#iOS17 beta 6, and it looks like they sort of fixed the app dragging issue for #Voiceover users, although, thhe options to drop before or after a given app is still a bit iffy. But at least it's not trying to auto-create a folder with another app this time or insist on joining a folder it happens to be next to.

Does anyone using the canvas student app know why I'm unable to enter anything in to a text field? It just does nothing when I double tap it using voiceover. #app #voiceover

I’ve been using my #Ruimen AJ01 #Bluetooth sunglasses for a couple of weeks now. I still like them, but I must admit the sound volume isn’t as good as it could be. In a noisy environment, I’ve sometimes struggled to hear #Voiceover. All audio frames have this problem to some extent, but it is still disappointing. Then again, at less than half the price of the likes of the now defunct Bose & Anker frames, I suppose you get what you pay for. I do still like these frames, but I do wish the volume was a bit louder.

mac #NSView #a11y is flummoxing me this afternoon... i want to set a button to conditionally not be an accessibility element (if it has no action and does nothing, the actual text field it's next to is already labelled and the looks of the icon are pretty irrelevant, so lets just not go there w/ #VoiceOver). implementing isAccessibilityElement() to return false in the button subclass results in a button that is STILL SELECTABLE by VO, and I don't get why.
