I reckon, plenty would jump at replacing Dr Chris Brown in 2023 not 2024 on I'm A Celebrity, while he "tends the grass" waiting for his contract to expire with 10...

I'd thought take a little time to give you my take on 10 marketing Dr Chris Brown... despite his impending shift to Seven in July.

As much as is coming back on Sunday April 2, why the hell are you marketing it with a talent due to leave 10 for Seven as soon as the African "safari" ends?

Has the television executive of today, outright forgotten the art of "gardening leave" for talent leaving your stable for a competitor?

5-city overnight figures for The Bachelors, approximately half what 10 drew for I'm A Celebrity premiere on January 3 last year.

The talk about national figures by Paramount Australian spinners, is only good, if you have the regional market ratings to back them up.

People aren't tuning in to 10 at all in aggregated Australia, as 7/9 offer a far superior product: inc. local news that isn't a rip/read product to fill quotas.

Putting it out there:

Any predictions for figures for tonight?

I'm openly expecting 300,000 viewers five city overnight.

Anyone game to see if it'll rate below that?

Some open predictions if Nine do end up with Australian domestic rights to Brisbane '32: (currently lead bidder with the IOC)

-Stan Sport will have to be operating 4K native by 2024: to match what OBS rolled out in Tokyo.

-Radio rights for the Olympics will return to 2GB/4BC/3AW for the first time in many years.

-Watch for a significant ramp-up of rhetoric from Nine's Brisbane GM concerning a relocation off Mount Coot-tha for Brisbane's three commercial stations: especially as such a relocation could see Nine television, radio and newspapers unified in one location in Brisbane.

Currently, Nine's spread over three locations in Brisbane (Cannon Hill (4BC), Mt Coot-tha (QTQ studio/newsroom) and Ann St in the CBD (Brisbane Times).

-The possibility that Nine could well launch a print version of the Brisbane Times product in the short term.

E! Australia (Foxtel/Fetch) and E! NZ (SKY TV) will cease on January 15 next year.

All tied into the 7Bravo launch on the same date, I reckon.

A interesting reminder for 10:

BNE news between 5-6pm drew 34,000 viewers last night.

People aren't just switching off due to sunny arvos: but are most likely switching off 10 for good.

I wouldn't be surprised if one day soon the GC optouts on 7/9 at 5:30 are outrating Brisbane news coming from Sydney on 10.

Although, I somehow think that there is some viewer resentment that Brisbane has not got it's dedicated news back after the Adelaide/Melbourne split was announced earlier this year.

I reckon, if Patty asked the thirty listeners that turned up to this function if they participated in GfK's surveys, you'd only get one hand raised.

That's how much goodwill SEN has burnt with listeners in Brisbane and Sydney: both with established TabCorp owned racing stations, after destroying two AM legacy stations (2CH Sydney and 4KQ Brisbane) to run it's content.

SEN would only work in NRL markets, if it had exclusive games, much like SEN Melbourne does for the AFL.

I reckon, regardless of revenue: the SYD/BNE expansion will not last until 2027: when NRL AM rights are on the table once more.

Wrap for Survey 8: BNE market:

Biggest winners: B105 brekky, 4BC afternoons and drive, Smooth DAB Brisbane.

Biggest losers: Hutchy (obviously), KIIS 97.3 breakfast.

Ratings surveys resume for metro radio stations on January 15 next year.

It looks like, WWE Network will be unavailable to Australians from January 23 next year.

Emails have been going out today to current and former WWE Network subscribers in Australia offering a deal with Binge (which absorbed the Network in this country as a condition of the new Foxtel/WWE broadcast agreement signed in September.)

The big question however: will Binge have enough of the back catalogue that the existing arrangements have before Jan 23?

If they don't: expect a rise in wrestling fans subscribing to NordVPN/Surfshark to get access elsewhere.

Just hearing over the wires: The "Merry Medic", Dr James Wright (the stage name of Dr John Knight AM) has passed away just shy of his 95th birthday.

In the 1970's and 1980's Dr Wright, was possibly the most famous doctor in Australia: thanks to his appearances on the Mike Walsh Show, and it's successor, Midday.

Wright's fulltime media career lasted until 2005, when he ended his near 20yr run on 2UE in Sydney, while his famed three minute syndicated health segments (at it's peak: syndicated to 70 radio stations nationwide), lasted until 2021.

In his lifetime, Wright wrote thirty books, his last (a autobiography) released in 2016.

However, he parlayed his fame into giving back: with his Medi-Aid foundation (founded by Wright and his wife in 1973) provides aged care accommodation for over 65's both in Sydney and on the Gold Coast.

The Merry Medic will be long remembered by many.

RIP, Dr James Wright, 1927-2022.

First night tonight of non-ratings: that is, big two TV networks churning out limited fresh content until January 30.

But will the big winners this summer be the streaming giants?

A wrap of last night's ratings:
-Hoges roast delivers some ratings joy.
-Saudi primetime upset at the FIFA World Cup, draws plenty to SBS.
-10's 5pm news in Sydney drawing last night, just 43,000 viewers.

Peter Helliar is joining the exodus from The Project.

I think, either Roving's no longer producing the program next year or Paramount AU/NZ is tightening the purse strings for Roving concerning the program.

First radio survey out ever, for the Atherton Tablelands market in north Queensland.

Highlights:
-SCA's Hit 97.9 dominant in all shifts but weekday mornings.
-Morning shift on weekdays, dead even between Hit 97.9 and NQ Radio's 4AM (currently taking a relay of John Laws on 2SM) at 15.2% share of the Atherton market.
-ABC FNQ's strongest shift in the Atherton market: evenings, with a 21% share.
