Hi! I'm Geoff Lerner, a #volcanologist from the US currently based in Mexico for my postdoc. I'm particularly interested in studying volcanic #hazards like pyroclastic flows and #lava dome collapses. I like to use a bunch of different field and lab methods, especially paleomagnetism (see photo!).

I also am interested in promoting better #inclusion in our discipline, especially when it comes to how we do our fieldwork.

Use those hashtags and use them often to get more viewers. #Volcanologist is a hashtag you could try to connect with others in your field. Use CW content warnings (eg. Some autistics don't like seeing eyes directly on even in photos . There are others but you'll get the idea quickly. No matter how many times I walk up to an eruption deposit the sheer size of them still blows my mind. I promise you I didn't realize the pun I just made until I wrote it.

This is in the Pumice Plain at Mount St. Helens, the area devastated by the May 18, 1980 eruption. Erosion has been digging a path through the rocks and ash deposited during the hot violence of that day. Volcanologist for scale.

In my free time, I mushroom hunt, knit, and occasionally do cosplay that involves knitting.

I'm a #volcanologist from the Philippines working mostly with #Taal and #Mayon volcanoes. I work mostly on #electromagnetics applications and methods, but also used to work with #seismic methods (#tomography). Nowadays though #DRRM (disaster risk reduction and management) occupies most of my time. I also do seismic hazards from time to time but volcanic eruptions are more exciting and spectacular.
