The voles ate half my potato harvest this year. Every potato hill I turned over revealed a vole tunnel and a quarter of the remaining potatos had bite marks on them.

An aha moment - when something was dragging my peas down holes in the garden last year, I thought it was chipmunks, which are unstoppable. But I noticed similar holes in the seed feeding area by the house, and I just saw a vole (adorable!) coming out, grabbing seeds, going back in. Voles are NOT unstoppable, I can put hardware cloth down and possibly have peas this year. #gardening #voles

Thought this might of been a wood mouse, but am told it's a water vole but it's not a water vole. If anyone can help identify this mouse like rodant please comment.
. Anyway, this little fellow has made his home in an old tree stump next to a stream.

You can still find Water #Voles in #Norfolk tho’ rarely. This one, at #Cley, unusually stayed a while and munched on reeds as I silently watched it from a bridge #naturephotography #conservation
