My weekly episode of Voltes V was such fun. A giant purple Bengal tiger robot and intrigue among the villains made for a snappy watch.

Watching an episode of Voltes V every week has been delightful because of the unexpected plots. Episode 6 had a sweet bat robot monster to fight, sure, but at the core it was about the love of a cowboy for his horse.

Watching my weekly episode of Voltes V has become a fun ritual, and each one surprises me. Episode 4 revolved around sibling skill training to save the day.

This scene in Voltes V episode 3 probably wasn't intended to be funny, but it elicited a smirk from me.
No one warned me Voltes V would have so much drama and emotional impact by the second episode. I was just expecting giant robot action but instead got heartbreaking family background and a heroic mom sacrificing for her children.

Tonight I watched an episode of Voltes V for the first time. In Canada the most common introduction to super robot anime was Voltron when I was a kid, and I can see so many elements it lifted from Voltes V.
Funny thing is we were just as fanatical of this mecha series before it was pulled off the air (apparently "too violent" for us pwecious widdle Catholic kiddies).

#VoltesV was the very first anime I watched back in the early 80s when I was only... 5 years old maybe? Really excited to see how it looks in full!
(Prince Heinell was my very first favorite character, I think. wwww)
