Quelle solution open-source pour un #DAC diy ?

Le besoin est simple : streamer de l'audio vers l'installation hi-fi depuis les téléphones et ordis de la maison, comme on le ferait avec un récepteur Bluetooth.

J'ai vu #volumio ou #runeaudio, mais ça ne parle que de lire de l'audio depuis des NAS ou du stockage local, alors qu'ici, on écoute depuis Spotify, Qobuz ou BandCamp.

Le repouet, grandement apprécié, blanchit les dents et fait repousser les cheveux.

I mean, as the default music player in my kitchen, it's classified as an essential part of my network. Need to blast Queen loudly as I cook, you know?

Pulled my „old“ #raspberrypi model 3B+ from my kids room. After I moved to running #Kodi on my NUC or TV for video, the Pi ran #Libreelec for a couple of years. It was used for listening to some children’s music by my older son. Since he got a smartphone he „hijacked“ the attached speakers and just plugged them in this. So this bugged me for sometime, as the Pi has the excellent #hifiberry DAC attached to it. So today I had some time and tried to check out #HiFiBerryOS as #Volumio seems …

I got a 5" touch display for my #raspberrypi with with DAC and a external drive. I use this setup for #Volumio to listen to the music. But with the touch screen, I need more power. 2A charger is not enough. I guess I'll have to find a 3A charger. Or 4A or even 5A. And after everythings works I have to make a wooden case. So I won't need my phone to change the songs anymore 🤗

Home-made amp, running #EL84 output valves in SE pentode mode. Makes about 5 watts. Top sheet is brass, exactly the size of an LP.

To the right, a raspberry pi running #Volumio, optically connected to a #Topping external DAC.

Sound is (ahem) effortless and dynamic, unlike the majority of shop bought amps (of which I've tried many).

Tunes are via #Spotify set to max quality.

I got around to upgrading my #volumio music player. I wasn't expecting a big change, but it turns out V3 has leapt on a fair bit. It's a sign of how happy I am with the project how little I upgrade.

A project from a few years ago. I converted a vintage #sony Watchman portable TV into a networked digital audio player, using a @RaspberryPi Raspberry Pi 3 and featuring the #volumio OS, and an oled panel. It also has line out for hifi connection #raspberrypi

I played around with some other options until I found #Volumio. It is essentially an mpd system, but with a slick UI and a rather high wife acceptance factor*.

*specifically, my wife, no generalisation. See @neil's comment, which I totally agree with. I'll leave this here as a reminder that some common phrases do have a misogynistic background and we need to be careful at all times to not feed that kind of sentiment.

Success! ...sort of. The NFC reader seems to scan only intermittently. Probably due to my abysmal soldering skills. (Intentionally not shown!)

And although I failed to resolve ansible errors, I was able to install that portion over ssh to get it working. The sound quality is very nice with the Hifiberry dac!

I've ordered some jumper cables to replace my solder mess, so hopefully that fixed the NFC and I can move on to the case design.

The saddest manifestation of my own #PTSD is the unwillingness to listen to music. It’s spiritual anorexia. Avoiding engaging any #feelings, mostly good ones. I’m going to try this morning, after going to all the effort to set up a #RaspberryPi #Volumio server filled with #Mogwai, #DjShadow, and #Calexico.
