Volunteering in a small town is spending 8 hours, 2PM to 10PM at a booth at the fall fair and you see friends, family, say hi to random people and strike up conversations about community and climate and family and all the rest. Oh and you listen to Chilliwack on the Main Stage sounding a little rough but who cares. Tickets for all this were only $10.

One says his chemo(4th week, kidney cancer) makes the heat tougher but he's ready to beat both.

I found a bug in a library. The previous maintainers of that library are no longer interested in it. I asked the #CPAN admins to give me a publish bit. They did.

Now I have to get the damned thing working (easy), and beat it into shape so it works well with my preferred dev toolchain and my release script.

Anyway, expect an updated version of DBM::Deep which passes its own tests some time in the next few days.

🗣️I am often asked why I am in Ukraine? More specifically, Kherson?

Kherson’s location is on the frontlines of Russia’s invasion and the civilian population is constantly shelled by the aggressors. The recently destroyed Kahkova dam compounded the humanitarian crisis.

I feel that having one more volunteer can contribute to helping the people of the region of Kherson.

Today’s #volunteering for #MealsOnWheels was a bit heartbreaking, I was informed one of the seniors passed away after a brief hospital stay. I will greatly miss the 15-20 minutes talks Irene & I had every Tuesday & Thursday over the past few years. I made sure to talk to each senior a little longer during today’s visits.

Two months ago I signed up to help out with a kids group for the first time - that slot is this Sunday morning. Which also happens to be the first time in 57 years that an English #football team has played in a #worldcup final. 🤦‍♂️

Trail work with the Bigfoot Trail Alliance was cut short after the 2AM lightning storm that has apparently lit off 19 fires in the #MarbleMountainWilderness including this one among the Sky High Lakes. The air was actually clearer in the basin even though it had it's own smoke source.
