A large number of #voters in the #Hinds #County, #Mississippi, #election today are are going to their normal #polling #precincts only to find out that their #precinct location was moved just 13 hours before the #polls opened.

Because #voter #disenfranchisement is what #Republicans call "#democracy".

And #SCOTUS lets them get away with it.

I recently learned about a small town in Alabama that has not held a public election for more than sixty years. The town is Newbern, Alabama. While nearly eighty-five percent of the town residents are Black, before 2020 the town never had a Black mayor.

#Oregon wants Automatic #Voter Registration (AVR) for those on #Medicaid. Federal (CMS) reservations don't seem relevant ("... the prohibition exists to protect people from having their information used against them—police can’t turn to Medicaid for a person’s last known address, for instance, nor can prosecutors in states that punish abortion patients.") but similar proposals haven't always succeeded elsewhere.

now looks like the numbers were greater than originally stated & that the data fails to account for those turned away at the door of the voting station by 'greeters' deployed to advise people before they entered about the new rules.
