@celrydoor Also, just looked it up and грим /grɪm/ is "makeup" in Ukrainian too.

For my mnemonics, I do sometimes gloss over the і/и difference. It'll probably come back to bite me later - I already struggle a bit with keeping all the vowels straight in Ukrainian.

There’s a particular speech affectation when the singer for this band says “you” and “do” which is really familiar and reminds me of some other song(s) but I can’t place it.

basically throwing in an extra vowel on the "oo" -- probably been done by a thousand punk bands at this point, but I'm having a hard time thinking of any specific examples off the top of my head.
