Omdat kippen vanwege de vogelgriep al sinds begin oktober moeten binnenblijven, mogen supermarkten vanaf 25 januari geen vrije-uitloopeieren meer verkopen. De doosjes zijn dan gevuld met scharreleieren. De pluimveesector vreest dat deze aanpassing het vrije-uitloopei de doodsteek geeft.
