I’m trying out visual studio code as my new Java IDE as Jetbrain’s IntelliJ is becoming a bit too slow and sluggish for my tastes (at least the latest versions are) and oh my god I can’t believe I’m saying this, but VSC is totally doable as an IDE…

The more time I spend with #vsc, the more I am reminded of why #microsoft is the leader in developer productivity. Especially when it comes to cloud-based tools.

1/ I figured it out a way, it's a bit of a bear, sharing here in case it is helpful for anyone else:
1. Download the *.tar.gz (e.g. using wget) file for #VSC into #WSL: https://code.visualstudio.com/#alt-downloads|
2. If you didn't give it a name during the wget command it comes with the annoying default name of "download?build=stable&os=linux-x64", for easier handling rename it: mv "download?build=stable&os=linux-x64". Note that you'll need the quotes or to escape the &

has anyone successfully setup #VisualStudioCode (#VSC)'s #RemoteTunnels functionality such that they are able to access #WSL projects on a remote machine?

Thus far I've been able to access #code from a remote machine but only when the project is stored on the Windows side.

Attempting to run code tunnel from WSL launches a VSC instance rather than kicking off the server like it does on the Windows side.

@tdw I believe #vsc will automatically make recommendations based on the file type, while you are editing basic markup.

As for react, I'm only recently getting re-acquainted with it. Do share back what you decide; I'll be watching this post.

sometimes it is great that each #VisualStudioCode (#VSC) project opens in a new window - but sometimes this gets a bit overwhelming.

I wish there was a way to have "tabs" that allowed one to switch between VSC projects within a single window instead of having multiple windows open.

How is it that in 2023 there is no #Kramdown plug in for #VSC (Visual Studio Code)??
Does no one other than me use github.io for their project doc's??

On my page I have a clear statement that 'I don't know what I am doing'... this yet again, seems to prove that I have made a bad decision to use #github for my project??

I tried many different knowledge management tools in the last couple of years and this is what works best for me:
* for non-programming related stuff: Obsidian
* for programming-related stuff: VSC.

In addition, I currently maintain 2 Obsidian vaults (and have been for a while): one for "public" stuff that is safely shareable and another one for private stuff that is not supposed to be shared.

I synchronize between devices using Dropbox.

après avoir discuté un peu "ide" arduino, il m'a été présenté 2 solutions qui fonctionnent à savoir "visual studio code" #vsc pour les intimes et #atom

le premier par microsoft et le second par github … qui appartient à microsoft -_-

alors ils sont visuellement sympa tous les 2 comme super éditeurs de texte et surtout il y a possibilité d'ajouter facilement #platformio mais

- n'est pas un peu surdimensionné pour du simple #arduino ?
- connaissez-vous éventuellement qqch hors crosoft ?
