“Fostering deliberation would require platforms that encourage long-term and in-depth interaction with arguments and less 'communicative plenty'“

Fair comment. I do find that conversations on Discourse forums or Loomio groups are more likely to go deep, and lead to covergent outcomes, then even the most constructive chats here. I haven't used Pol.is, but I've read impressive things about its by #g0v for vTaiwan.

@colinmegill Hi Colin, just read this article about #Polis & #vTaiwan & thrilled to find you here…
As many others, I’m very concerned about the state of our broken politics & the assault on democracy. I am inspired by @au & Taiwan’s innovations in regard to creating a more responsive, functional & strong democracy.
I’m curious if you think it’s possible to achieve the same in the US & what’s required?

interesting experiment using AI #ChatGPT to analyze & summarize public comments. See also #Polis, which adds dimensions of statistical, discourse, deliberation analysis; used eg in #vTaiwan & Twitter

The Social Dilemma

The Social Dilemma (movie) shows that social network services promote outrage and division because that leads to more views which leads to more profit- and to the breakdown of society and democracy
Polis is a social network that promotes and amplifies agreement, so we can find our common ground.
Get it started in your locale!
Anyone know anyone in okinawa who might be able to help??

Taiwan designed a social network around building consensus so they could create laws people would agree on. Apparently it actually works.

On April 15 #ExtinctionRebellion will shut down London, demanding a sane response to the climate crisis, guided by citizen assemblies.
If you support this plan, you need to know about #vTaiwan - the world's most advanced citizen participation process.
