“As he's connecting with 911, the house just imploded on top of us. Just cracking, whishing, knocked me right off the couch and twirled me around,” Rhoda said. “And I really said to myself, 'I think this is where we're going to die.'”
The view at #VermontPublic right now…

WATCH 👀 Tygart Mountain Sports is in Ludlow, VT, and one of their security cameras captured the flash flooding that filled this town Monday. This video is in real time, highlighting how dangerous flash floods truly can be.
Me: Not a time lapse video, real-time video showing how quickly the water rushed in.
(I couldn't find a video source other than twitter.)

This one's heartfelt. My new op-ed out today. Imagining a recovery in Vermont that would design for the future that’s coming, not the past we once knew and expand the idea of recovery to include nature and community, as well as bridges and roads https://themessenger.com/opinion/disaster-recovery-efforts-can-serve-more-than-one-goal #multisolving #VTflood23 #ClimateCrisis

7:45 AM NWSBurlington Forecast Discussion is troubling. Friday “storms will be less organized/intense…compared to Thursday's” but they’ll need to watch for flash flooding. Sunday “showers and thunderstorms could be heavy and efficient which is concerning after the area has experienced so much flooding lately.” They forecast “a widespread 0.50" - 0.75" [rainfall] for NY counties and Western Vt, with the rest of VT seeing 1" - 2" with some isolated higher amounts.” #VTwx #Vermont #VTflood23

If you’re in #Vermont you need to be paying very close attention to the weather this afternoon. A line of severe thunderstorms will be moving through the state from about 4-8 PM. Given how saturated our soils are, this could lead to more flooding. #VTflood23 #VTwx #VermontFlood
