I've been operating as #W1AW/2 that last couple of days using #SSB (40M, 20M, 10M)

At 2:00 - 4:00 UTC, I'll be operating again but using #RTTY somewhere between 7.080 MHz and 7.100 MHz (probably 7.085 or so).

Conditions have improved significantly over the last couple of hours do if you want to give a shout or try RTTY, you know where I'll be.

Yesterday, the Billerica (MA) Area Radio Society visited ARRL Headquarters in Newington, CT. Thanks to all the friendly and helpful staff. I made a couple of contacts on 20M, including one from W1AW at ARRL HQ to Q1AW/4 (VOTA) in Tennessee. It confused them! 😉

Made 18 contacts between 20m and 10m as #w1aw. 6 of them on 20m, 20m propagation was pretty bad.

I am currently operating W1AW/6 as part of the #VOTA event. 10m and 20m FT8. Scheduled until 2pm.

20m has been slow so far, 10m already made contacts. Come get your ARRL club contacts.

Regardless how well intentioned, #ARRL has totally dropped the ball for #VOTA.

Nothing was ready for the start of the event. I was told my state was told at the last minute what dates were available for the portable #W1AW operation. The leaderboard continues to be vaporware.

All that stuff should have been developed last year.

I, honestly, think VOTA was concocted at the last minute. The only thing that will make it effective will be the volunteers.

I had my first net check in today. My first successful voice contact *ever* was over the #w1aw repeater! I used a lowly HT with maybe 5W of output with a ~18" Abbree antenna. Fun times.

Everything else I've done up to this point has been digital modes such as #aprs.
