Such an honour to share #SACEMA #WAD2022 lecture with @LeighJohnson9 and to reflect on the incredible progress against #HIV of the past decade, what modellers got right and wrong, and what the future could hold; and so many special collaborations along the way. @MRC_Outbreak https://twitter.com/boltonlarisse/status/1598364217928826887
Glad to see the #WorldAIDSDay red ribbon on display at the White House. We will never forget those that stormed the White House throwing the ashes of their loved ones in protest. #wad2022

33 years ago today, Keith Haring shared his completed campus mural to our community as part of the second annual AIDS Awareness Day. The event, which has evolved into #WorldAIDSDay and #DayWithoutArt, carries a special meaning at ArtCenter β
"December 1 has been designated a national day of action and mourning in response to the AIDS crisis. It is the second annual AIDS Awareness Day sponsored by the World Health Organization.

Research has led to vast improvements in the lives touched by HIV. We are dedicated to maximizing the impact of research to improve health for all, and the job is not done.
We all have a part to play to address the inequalities slowing progress to end the epidemic.

Today is #WAD2022 a time to celebrate how for we have come in 40 years of fighting HIV but also to remember that it is not yet over. In 2021, 1.5 M new infections occurred and 650K died from HIV globally. Inequalities drive the epidemic and we must no longer ignore them.

HIV is treatable, but we must advocate for our patients first and foremost. Advocate with respect to access to affordable treatments and prevention. Advocate to decrease stigma and discrimination, because stigma kills and prevents access to healthcare. Advocate for LGBT+, BIPOC, women, and all historically neglected populations with respect to HIV.
An excellent resource as always is:
