GOP needs to get out their voters. Walsh understands that the lies about election integrity undermine their turnout and leads to losing races. He has been working within his party to GOTV and promote mail in ballots to their advantage. Some still don’t think their GOP vote will count… The GOP state platform is unresponsive to many voters interests. It is so bad that it will help GOTV for the democrats. Walsh can’t change that dynamic.

I have to say the route he takes to explain this is a little bit convoluted but, I'm heartened that the new chair of the state Republican Party might lean against the election denying tendencies of his party

Agree we need more vibrant local journalism to engage candidates and issues that matter to the broader electorate. Also need campaigns to do same instead of the common focus and outreach to “frequent easy to reach” voters. Olympia School District & Port primary have consequential board races in play. Virtually no candidate outreach to the voters who are most affected and can benefit from competent leadership. Fortunate to have LWV providing forums for easy access.

Turnout in odd year elections is an information problem, a media coverage and media industry problem. There is no way our media system is set up in Washington that we would ever be able to get the regular coverage for these races the way we cover statewide or congressional elections.
