A guitarist tweaking their pedalboard or rocking a #WahWah is fundamentally doing the same thing as a synth player turning knobs. In a lot of cases, the circuitry of a #guitar pedal is nearly identical to portions of a synthesizer’s circuitry.

That said, this is not the most useful definition of a #synthesizer. If you walked into a music store and asked for a #synth, you’d probably be confused if they brought you to the guitar area.
