Maybe I've just been making good choices, but after watching #Barbie yesterday I thought back over the movies I've seen in the cinema since the pandemic: #WakandaForever, #TheWomanKing and #EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce (all of which were excellent) and it really does feel like something's changing and Hollywood executives have finally realised women watch films and want to see fully developed female characters and are finally putting money behind them

In Wakanda Forever, MCU tries very hard to add a layer of political intelligence to the fan-indulgent sequel. What it ends up with is a contrived juxtaposition of Wakanda and Talokan, two states with opposing responses to colonisation. The latter is an iteration of Atlantis but with a modified history of subjugation (and a borrowed Aztec moniker).

Too long, too manufactured, and definitely a major stepdown from its 2018 predecessor. #wakandaforever

Eine Fortsetzung zu machen zu einem Film der so stark durch einen charismatischen Hauptdarsteller geprägt wurde der nun verstorben ist, ist eine schlechte Idee. Unglücklicherweise sah Marvel sich mehr oder minder gezwungen die Geschichte weiter zu erzählen, auch weil gerade mit Wakanda viel der Story des MCU verknüpft ist.
