One of the highlights of attending the Kington walking festival is the random stories you hear from the locals. During the 60’s an unexplored bomb was found on ‘smasher hill’ close to New Radnor. The locals carried it down the hill and put it in the back of a car - one of the boys was told to sit on it to avoid it moving around in transit. They drove it to the police station and handed it in. The army arrived and took it back and blew it up.

A decent length walk for day two of the Kington Walking Festival. Kington to Pembridge following the old branch line shut in the sixties. The highlight being the walk through the valley at Mowley Wood, owned by the Bulmers family.
