12. Game that changed my perspective on RPGs.

was an interesting one to read. The diceless system is so much different than others I'm familiar with and the setting just bleeds through every word of text.

Certainly changed the idea that randomness is necessary for tension and stakes.

Wanderhome. The queer themes are muted, but they're there. When the game invites you to explore melancholy, regret, loneliness...it feels like a safe space.

Hot Guys Making Out. Queer as fuck. Moments of intimacy and joy despite a rising threat and potential tragedy.

Desperate to try Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast, which wears its queer aesthetic on its sleeve. And The Girlfriend Of My Girlfriend Is My Friend looks fun.

Some of my favorite Writer's Room style games include , Primetime Adventures, Avery Alder's *Ribbon Drive*, and Possum Creek Games' . There are loads of others, but those are the ones I've had incredibly good experiences with.

Now I know that three posts ago I said roleplay was Dollhouse Play, but man, there's a *lot* of roleplay that goes on in the Writer's Room space. I guess the difference is that in Writer's Room play, you're all building the dollhouse together.

6. Every game I don't get to play is my favorite game I don't get to play. I want to run , and would really love to play and pretty much would play just about anything else.

Last time we were away on a podcast No Content, Only Friends holiday we played , and it was such a joy. Peaceful, comforting, and at times a little emotional. This was my character, Allegra!

Anyone else played Wanderhome?

@auguryignored As far as "no violence" TTRPGs go, is lovely. I'm itching to try Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast. Banda's Grove looks fun. And dozens of romance games fit the bill; The Girlfriend Of My Girlfriend Is My Friend is on my want-to-play list, for sure.

Other that have given me a lot of joy this year include Jay Dragon's and (available at emmy.itch.io).

Wanderhome is endlessly whimsical and, at the same time, contempletavily sad in interesting ways. Cute animals in a fantasy realm stopping to smell flowers and going on the smallest adventures.

Last Year feels like a strange liminal dream of an art deco hotel where you once stayed, shared with another person.

Wrapping up my 6 week adventure. Lots of fun overall. I like the Belonging Outside Belonging system and Jay Dragon brings a whimsical tone that really helped me fall in love with Hæth. They listed the Redwall series as one of the inspirations and I think it comes through in the setting and character design.

Maybe it's just because of current global affairs but I really appreciate how the game incentivises introspection and character growth over direct conflict.

The last reblog about the remaining postmen’s huts in Wales gave me an interesting element to add to my Moth-Tender character’s journey.

Hey!

So I realize that this is a long shot, but I'm running a Wanderhome game this Wednesday and we could use some more players! It's a paid game, proceeds go to helping me cover a few summer expenses.

Play a charming anthropomorphic animal wandering the pastoral fantasy land of Heath 🐾. Experience the the four seasons through unique holiday themed sessions 🌼 🌞 🍂 ❄️

Perfect for beginners and experienced players! Diceless system is easy to learn and rp focused

Any other Wanderhome players around?

I'm curious what other players' experiences with various guide-constellations are.

We play overall guideless, where the first location was basically made through consensus, but have then started taking turns making locations. I think this works pretty well, but I was wondering if people felt it changed the game's dynamic if someone was THE Guide

After playing a couple of sessions of Wanderhome, I've come to realize that it embodies my favourite kind of wholesome, which has a drop of melancholy in an ocean of hope.
