Since today's #30DayChartChallenge theme is part-to-whole, I'll admit to pondering a rare question for me: would this #WaPost bar chart be better as a pie chart? Or at least as a stacked bar? That is, it seems cumulative %s are more relevant that individual categories, especially such fuzzy ones.

Seeing this #wapost chart of DC cherry blossom bloom dates and a line fit, I had to try a smoother #datviz. Slightly different story. With no shift in first 50 years, it's more like a week lost in 50 years instead of in 100 years as they reported.

I was also going to try adjusting the dates for leap years, but they had already done that and just not labeled it. I "fixed" that by adding a true date of year gridline.

Arizona's former attorney general [Mark Brnovich] concealed records debunking election fraud claims according to newly released documents. State investigators prepared a report in March 2022 stating that virtually all claims of error and malfeasance were unfounded. Brnovich left office last month without ever releasing the report.

Accounts pushing Russian propaganda are using Twitter's new paid verification system to appear more prominently on the platform according to a new analysis by the nonprofit research group Reset. The accounts claim to be located outside of Russia but pass along articles from state-run media, statements from Russian officials, and lies about Ukraine from Kremlin allies.

New from @taylorlorenz: An analysis by the Center for Countering Digital Hate estimates that the reinstatement of 10 previously-banned high profile Twitter accounts is producing enough engagement on the platform to generate $19 million in annual advertising revenue.

They found numerous advertisements from major brands appearing alongside controversial tweets from these extremist influencers.

I am facing my 21st January up here at 48* latitude and it finally got to me. I guess I have #SAD or #SeasonalAffectiveDisorder. I had never actually dreaded winter before, but this year I heard myself declaring that I couldn’t take it.
So I bought a nice little lamp for the table and I click it on while reading the #WaPost.
It has truly helped.
Sure, I could have spent that $50 on a bottle of #bourbon, but this may have been the smarter choice.
