New Il-2 Sturmovik video:

I wanted to see who would come out on top between two Allied legends: the Supermarine Spitfire IXc and the North American P-51D Mustang.

Pretty savage dogfight - and very close! If there's a lesson here, it's definitely "lose sight, lose the fight!"

Beautiful external footage of the Spitfire in this video, definitely worth watching all the way through.

Visited Fagen Fighters fagenfighterswwiimuseum.org/ today. As an old aircraft fixer and part time history buff this was great. All of their exhibited planes except 2 are flyable. Got to see a checkout flight of very rare Grumann F6F-5 with low high speed pass. Always torn between excitement seeing and hearing the old fly, and the sobering thought of staggering human loss and sacrifices of wars they represent.

Here are a few more photos from inside of Doc, at the , yesterday. The front and rear parts of the plane are pressurized but the bomb bays aren't. There is a tube going from the front to the back, to deal with that.

Yes, the same L-139 she had to put down hard in a recent Texas crash, but she is recovering well from her injuries according to her Facebook posts.

Just finished my @TamiyaUSA P-51D Mustang “Nooky Booky IV” piloted by Maj. Kit Carson.

Invested in a good soft, wide, flat brush at the art supply store and it paid off as there are zero brush strokes. Going away from rattle can painting for good now as it is very easy to even out the final coats when going over where I filled gaps and sanded.
