Tonight I finished my favourite miniature of the Cursed City box, Gorslav the Gravekeeper. I didn't realise until I was painting it that the headgear thing is actually a bunch of bones poking out of the top!

Got another set of skeleton warriors finished, plus the first of the bosses, Watch Captain Halgrim! The gravestones in the front are markers used in the game that the Deadwalker zombies can spawn from so you need make sure you destroy them quickly lest you be overwhelmed.

I also took the opportunity to add some of the new blue/white grasses to the bases of the heroes for some more visual interest.

We played our second game of Warhammer Quest this afternoon! Another success, though it was looking a bit dicey at one point. The journey type we were playing was a "Hunt" where you need to kill ten hostile champions before you can finish it, but very thematically the zombies have no champion-type miniature in their groups so they just serve to slow you down. Play of the game went to my dwarf who single-handedly decimated a horde of hostiles (you'll have to excuse the lack of fully-painted miniatures because I ran out of the painted ones and had to resort to the half-painted ones I'd been working on earlier in the day).

Once you achieve the completion condition for whatever journey type you're playing, you need to retreat to the extraction point and once your heroes are all there, THAT is when the game ends. Today we had a classic movie feel because one of the last hostiles to spawn was one of the really nasty boss types, we ended up being able to avoid fighting him but it was a rush to the extraction point before he caught up with us!

Next in the seemingly never-ending flood of painting, we have a Kosargi Night Guard! He was surprisingly quick to paint since there's not too many little details, but I think my favourite part is the basing. Rather than trying to create a spot for a pool of swamp water, I just loaded up the base with the muddy ground texture as normal, painted it, and then carefully put the swamp water in the hollows where water would naturally collect anyway.

(The skeleton warrior next to him is the one from a couple of weeks ago and is there for scale since there wasn't any other way to really show how large the Kosargi is!)

I'm taking the opportunity with my #WarhammerQuest miniatures to expand my collection of basing materials. 😁 The plan for the boss hostiles in particular is to use the Rough Terrain texture with a really dark grey colour over it then put those Blood Moon grasses on them. Should look pretty fantastic I reckon.

Last night we played our first rules tutorial and game of #WarhammerQuest #CursedCity
It has really great and well thought out game mechanics. But a game for two takes quite a long time: yesterday we needed about 3 hours for 1 chapter. It has at least 20 chapters 😳 The next chapters will surely play faster now that we know the rules. 😁

Also finished tonight are the "mysterious object" markers. I used AK Interactive's "Neutral Earth" texture paint and just put a coat of Ratling Grime on it for the skeletons and Aggaros Dunes for the crows, and they came out looking vastly different despite being the same texture! (And I couldn't resist using some more of my tufts as well.)

Next in my #WarhammerQuest painting adventures, the first four heroes! I decided to paint the bases of these VERY differently from the hostiles so they're much more easily distinguishable when on the board. It doesn't really show through very well in this photo but I added the snow sparkle texture paint on top of the snow and it looks so good.

@yayKM and I played our first proper game of #WarhammerQuest tonight! The miniatures were 95% painted (the heroes just need some finishing touches on their bases, and the "mysterious objects" weren't finished yet because I only started them this afternoon), and it looked great.

It was going to be just a "Get used to the rules" sort of game, but we played through a whole game and figured we might as well make it the first real game and we'll continue with the storyline next game. Unfortunately we didn't roll too well on the end-of-game event table and our heroes are all going to be starting the next game with one wound counter already because they were hurt fighting off the undead that were trying to overwhelm the airship that is our mobile base of operations.

That's the first batch of hostiles done! This is probably the fastest I've painted things for ages, but they came out looking pretty excellent nonetheless. Especially happy with the gross blood effects on the vampire in particular. 😁

My first batch of #WarhammerQuest miniatures are (mostly) done!

I figured rather than getting utterly overwhelmed at how many miniatures I have to paint, I'd take just the ones, both heroes and hostiles, that I used for the first game I played the other night and get those done first, and then just specifically choose those encounter cards for the first game we play. I'm making excellent use of zenithal highlighting, Contrast paints, and drybrushing to get them done quickly since the hostiles really don't need to be done to crazy quality (the heroes will be done to a higher standard).

The bases aren't done because I'm going to get them finished all at the same time once the rest of the miniatures are painted.

Just finished the Horrors of Tzeentch from Silver Tower!

Rather happy with how these turned out!
