The #WarioLand games are so great! Love how it’s a puzzle action side scroller. Not sure how I missed these growing up... Too focused on Zelda and Mario, I guess. 😅#RetroGames

Just completed Wario Land 4, and it gave me mixed feelings.

First off, the presentation is fantastic! It has some of the prettiest sprite animations I've seen and the sound design is very playful and unique.

It made a few crucial changes to the formula. Wario is no longer immortal so you have to be more careful. There is a new speedrunning aspect to it, because once you "clear the level" you have to run back to the start before the time runs out.

Its focus has changed from the carefree puzzle platforming exploration I loved, Wario has fewer forms you can explore the levels with, so it's not my favorite. But it's quite short and polished, so it's well worth playing.

My next speed game will be #PizzaTower. I hecking love this game and the gaming landscape was in dire need if the best Wario Land Game to ever exist. Seriously, if you liked #WarioLand, this is the game for you.

Wario Land II for the Game Boy is not a game I expected to be as good as it is, it really holds up today. Playing a level here and there on my little baby Q90 emulator console has been a blast! #retrogaming #wario #warioland #gameboy

#PizzaTower is almost a bit TOO much focused on speed-running. Not what I had hoped from a #WarioLand inspired game. The aesthetic is pretty amazing, sound design on point, but it's hard to control. Feels very slippery at times. The game doesn't encourage taking it slowly at all, which I had hoped.

Also: DON'T play this game with analogue controls if you want to keep your sanity. Best played with a D-pad controller or on #SteamDeck.
