It’s dropped below freezing in #Dallas and the “Office of Homeless Solutions” has opened the #warmingshelters. Text of the attached document is reproduced below:

Honorable Mayor and City Council Members,
In accordance with Chapter 45 of the City of Dallas Code, the Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS) will authorize the opening of temporary inclement weather shelters on the following dates*, beginning at 6:00 p.m. and ending on the following day at 8:00 a.m. *Activation is subject to change as the weather develops.

Thursday, December 22, 2022- 6:00 p.m.
NOAA forecast low temperature: 14 degrees

Friday, December 23,2022 - 6:00 p.m.
NOAA forecast low temperature: 20 degrees

Saturday, December 24, 2022 - 6:00 p.m.
NOAA forecast low temperature: 22 degrees

Sunday, December 25, 2022 - 6:00 p.m.
NOAA forecast low temperature: 29 degrees

The following locations will be activated as temporary inclement weather shelters:
All shelters will be opened in phases

Austin Street Shelter Annex
2929 Hickory St.

Oak Lawn United Methodist Church
3014 Oak Lawn Ave.

Warren United Methodist Church
3028 S Malcom X Blvd

J. Erik Jonsson Central Library
1515 Young St.

For all inquiries on donation opportunities, OHS has implemented a text campaign wherein residents can text CARE to 214-740-4886. Residents will then receive a direct link to the OHS "Donate webpage, where they can then choose from three ways to donate to the unsheltered community- via the Communities Foundation of Texas
