#Volunteering morning at #Watts Gallery where I froze despite wearing a Marino wool base layer, warm shirt and trousers, a heavy sweater, an overcoat, hat and gloves indoors and being given a hot water bottle. In contrast this afternoon I went to #Godalming #Library, an official #WarmSpace, the warmest I’ve been for ages. #coldsnap #weather

The temperature of my workplace today. A balmy 9C.
The heating is off so someone can come in today (hopefully) to refurb and fix the ancient storage heaters that warm the place.

I’m here for 7 hours with 3 rinky-dink small space heaters that are doing sod all to heat a larger space than they’re intended for.

I was prepared so have all the rugby base layer cold gear on, hoodie, fingerless gloves, hat… at least I’m working in a #CostOfLiving #WarmSpace (oh, the irony!) so hot drinks on tap.

Further to the #NorthLanarkshire #warmspace drop in places (& since the winter nip in the air has finally arrived) I’ve actually managed to find a page that’ll point folk to their nearest place.

I would warn anyone to check the opening hours before they go though as some sites aren’t open every day.

Loads of public buildings in #NorthLanarkshire are now officially designated as #WarmSpace drop-ins so unlimited free tea/coffee, plenty of seating. Sure it’s not cold enough yet, but there is no advertising of this free provision whatsoever. Nothing on the Council website, social media… nada. Uptake is limited to folk who already use the buildings.
Hoping this isn’t just an empty gesture that won’t keep up with demand when it’s really needed. #costofliving #energycrisis
