Twenty minutes from Eurostar train to Bristol train at Paddington, having had decent luck on the Underground.
Proud to report that the GWR express trains remain by far the least comfortable of this entire journey. And in the running for worst I've ever experienced in 29 other European countries.

And sad news if like me (toots passim) you are a fan of the cartoon man who shits himself in the Eurostar onboard information video. I think this is a refurbished train, no video screens just a scrolling LED text display, so no shitting man.

Thoughts on Poland and (briefly) Berlin may follow, but I'm already in Brussels.

I've travelled through Poland before, but this is a first, in daylight and no snow.
#WindowStaring highlights so far Gdańsk–Warsaw:
A field of the world tiniest sunflowers (like 40cm high).
An adjacent rail bridge over a middle of nowhere flood plane that in the course of about 1km had a normal steel section, in the middle a beautifully conserved brick section, and then a completely derelict concrete section (bombed out in 1940s?) with no span let alone track.

Ways to be eco on a train: take your own cutlery with you.
Ways to be hygienic on a train: wash your hands on the way to the buffet car.
Ways to be a hygienic eco idiot on a train: drop a plastic fork into the toilet bowl.

Thankfully, it appears the vacuum loo has not died.

Confessed my stupidity to the tågvärd. Serious double take on hearing "fork".

Meanwhile I am left in mourning, with 2000 forkless kilometres ahead.

Back #NotFlying from Sweden to Wales. Not a sprint like last time, instead it's an overnight ferry to Gdynia (Gdansk) then 24 hours exploring Warsaw, a city I've never visited.
