I can't have heard these songs in 35+ years (I last heard Stryper on cassette, for crying out loud). But, amazingly, there are enough snatches of both somewhere in my head to play bits of them.

European Paper Wasp (Polistes dominula) on Slipper Gourd (Cyclanthera pedata) flower in Paris, near the Eiffel Tower.

Apparently this species has more general feeding habits than other wasps in the genus, predating on other insects as well as caterpillars.

At 1st, I thought a squirrel left this pile of tiny sticks outside the door. Peeling a pod?

Nope. I managed to be there at the right time when a #wasp, carrying one of those sticks, flew into a small crack (marked by the red arrow). It was building a nest inside my door. The audacity!

I hate bug sprays, but something had to be done. There was a big gap between the door and the frame so I added some weather stripping, then shoved a small piece of it into the hole. It's working so far.
