#WaspIDCourse2023, day 2 (again - it was very inspiring!).
As I attend this run of the WaspID Course, I'm tempted to share a different wasp every day. A ๐งต
(Without specification, assume all are shot in the Netherlands)
Here's no. 3 and 4 - after handling fly larvae to get a shot of this Aphaereta wasp parasitizing my fingers must have smelled quite appetizing to this confused wasp lady.

Here's no. 2 - one of my first truly awesome finds in macrophotography, back in 2012. If it wasn't for this photo I wouldn't have contacted Hans Smid, who, a year later, ended up being the co-promotor of my PhD!

It was nice to "see" you along with other familiar "faces" there today.

Spent all day listening to lectures on wasps. It's been a good day. So glad there are people willing to organize online courses like this. An unimaginable amount of work, but it's a fantastic way to spread appreciation of wasps and insects.

#WaspIDCourse is a virtual/online wasp identification course. It runs for two weeks and today is the first day! It ran for the first time last year, so there was a #WaspIDCourse2022. Today begins #WaspIDCourse2023.
I see a lot of #Hashtags I don't recognize. Most times, I assume they're not meant for me! If I'm curious, I'll do a search on it to try to glean the larger context.
#waspidcourse #waspidcourse2022 #waspidcourse2023 #hashtags
one of the wierd things about hashtag is that if you look at all the posts for a hashtag, none of them tell you, precisely, what the hashtag is about
eg, I can guess what #WaspIDCourse2023 is about, but is it an online mastodon thing ?is it a formal course ?
the hashtag doesn't tell you
again, want to emphasize that this is a common, almsot prevalent thing with hashtags

So without further ado, here's no. 1: a cool pompilid, dragging along a paralyzed spider to a burrow somewhere.
